Winnica Barbórka is a small, family-owned vineyard in Upper Silesia. We are growing it thoughtfully and at a natural pace—through our own work and in close connection with the people and the place we call home.

What began as an interest in wine has grown into a place built to last.

The idea of starting a vineyard took shape over several years. It began with Janusz’s interest in wine and his first home winemaking experiments. Later came travels, conversations with winemakers, professional training, and Barbara’s studies in oenology.From the very beginning, we wanted to create something local and genuine—a small vineyard where we know every parcel, understand our soils, and care for each grape variety we grow. Hard work, collaboration, and hospitality are values that guide us every day.We have never wanted to grow at any cost. New vineyard parcels, wines, events, and ideas are introduced step by step. Our goal is for Winnica Barbórka to remain a family-run vineyard—growing at its own pace while staying open to new opportunities.

Land, Climate & Vines

Winnica Barbórka spans three vineyard parcels with a total area of 1.5 hectares. Two are located in Miedary, while the third lies in nearby Połomia.

Pierwsza parcela leży przy naszym domu i winiarni w Miedarach. Druga znajduje się na skraju miejscowości, wśród otwartych pól. Trzecia położona jest w Połomii. Poszczególne działki różnią się ekspozycją, ruchem powietrza, ilością światła i lokalnymi warunkami wilgotnościowymi, a podłoże ma charakter gliniasto-piaszczysto-wapienny.Na naszych parcelach rosną: Hibernal, Bianca, Jutrzenka, Aurora, Seyval Blanc, Muscaris, Souvignier Gris, Solaris, Johanniter, Zweigelt i Dornfelder.

Work, Support and Community

Most of the work in our vineyard is done by hand. Caring for the rows, training the vines, pruning, harvesting, and day-to-day maintenance all require time and a regular presence in the vineyard. We currently use machinery only to a limited extent, which means we know every parcel intimately.During planting, weeding, harvest, and events, we are joined by our extended family and friends. They also support us with photography, marketing, and organising events. Thanks to them, Winnica Barbórka remains a family-run vineyard—one that is open to others and continues to grow through the people who choose to be part of it.

The 2025 vintage marked the release of Winnica Barbórka’s first two white wines. They capture the beginning of our journey—our vineyard parcels, grape varieties, and first experiences in winemaking.

First vintage

Gryfný Suvenir

An off-dry white wine made from the Souvignier Gris grape variety.The first single-varietal wine from Winnica Barbórka. It is made from Souvignier Gris, a grape variety appreciated for its ripe fruit character and freshness.Its name combines the Silesian word gryfny, meaning “good-looking” or “excellent”, with the name of the grape variety. It is a subtle tribute to the region we call home.

Cuvée

A dry white wine made from Hibernal, Seyval Blanc, and Bianca grape varieties.A blend of three grape varieties grown on the vineyard parcel next to our home. This wine marks the opening chapter of Winnica Barbórka and reflects the direction we hope to follow in future vintages.
